Sony has always been a lover of making the phone a Picture-Winner and waterproof rather than gearing it up with a lot and lot of features unlike Samsung which gears up its most efficient series: Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Note 6 with insane features.  Every brand has it’s own pros and cons and that is why it becomes the choice among so many, Some are picture-Freak but the other wants a lot of tech in the hands and then there are the third types, The Apple Fans who are in deep love with the smoothness and user experience Apple provides them with like we are expecting in: Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8s. So many varieties and So many choices with own priorities, So Let’s move on to the Smartphone we are going to discuss here: The Sony Xperia Z6.

The Xperia series arrived with the most efficient and high resolution display of *~311 ppi pixel density. Sony came up with this good resolution smartphone to end up the difference between HTC and Apple. With the new launch of every next smartphone the quality of every other was then improved by Sony.

The very first in this row was released in 2008 as Xperia X1 but the buzz started with X2 which was released in the very next year geared with 8.1 MP camera with Wi-Fi and GPS. Till 2010 Xperia created too much of a buzz and presented too many models making this series go all the way viral;. So, The X10 was released at the start of 2010. It became the very first to feature the Android System, all the previous smartphone were running on the windows OS. Then on wards Xperia has neither stopped nor ever gave a second chance to launch the smartphone. It is the most regular series smartphone which comes up with an option of 2 buys a whole year in probably first and the third quarter giving a 6 month gap between the two!

So, It is expected for this smartphone to get a even more presise dust repeller and keep it from sticking in the corners and USB ports! That’s a good news.

Sony Xperia Z6 rumor roundup: release date, price, specs, features

Original Post: It’s a new year and we are looking forward to covering some of the best smartphones this industry has ever seen. Of course, Samsung, HTC, Motorola and all the other main guys are bringing their biggest guns to battle, but Sony certainly doesn’t plan to fall behind.

While Sony is struggling to keep up with the competition, their devices have always been outstanding. Their flagship Z series is known for its powerful specs, unique designs, durable build and unique features. Now we await the latest iteration – the Sony Xperia Z6.

Sony Xperia reviews:

Those looking for a one-stop shop to get all their Sony Xperia Z6 details need to look no further. Just bookmark this page. We will continue to update the post as more information continues to emerge, so you will always be kept in the loop.

Something to keep in mind

Of course, this is an unannounced device, so consider this more of a rumor roundup for now. Everything in here is to be taken with a pinch of salt. Much of this information is based on speculation, leaks and rumors, but we will try to keep details as solid as possible.

With that in mind, let’s go over what we (think we) know about the upcoming Sony Xperia Z6.

Cutting down?

Those who have been following Sony’s smartphone history will know the company is not moving slowly. Take the Xperia Z5 as an example; that phone came out only 3 months after the Xperia Z4! And the Z3 was released less than a year before that.

This is good for keeping customers at the bleeding edge of technology, but as Sony’s business continues to struggle, the Japanese company may be realizing it’s time to slow things down and focus on expanding their smartphones’ life span. Not to mention, the quick cycles for the Z series means that some of the models barely had any major differences, spec wise. By increasing the gap between releases, Sony’s new flagships will finally stand out more from one another.

Both CNBeta and Digitimes reported that Sony will only be releasing 2 flagship devices in 2016. Now, what does this mean, exactly? Are they saying there will be a Z6 and Z7 coming this year?

In short, Sony may be releasing less devices… or not. It all depends on how the interpretation of “2 flagships” is taken. That is, if all these rumors are even true.

A possible change in design

Can you tell one flagship Sony smartphone from another? No one will judge if you can’t. Sony is a big fan of the whole “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it” philosophy of design. They found a formula for a phone that looks sleek and is solid, but the issue is that they really haven’t changed it much at all since the Sony Xperia Z1. While this continues to be a good look for Xperia phones, it’s a bit over-used and many believe it’s time for a change. Thankfully, it seems Sony may finally be ready to switch things up a bit.

The Sony Xperia Z6 is said to make extensive use of metal, as opposed to previous generation flagships, which featured a metal frame with glass sides. Metal looks to be the material of choice for the future of smartphones, so this might make Sony phones more enticing in the markets where it is lacking a following.

Another big change could be the number of variants produced under the Z6 banner. While rumors suggest there were only be two flagships released by Sony in 2016, the Z6 will come in different flavors, similar to how the Z5 had the Premium, Compact, and standard version. Supposedly there will be at least 5 different versions of the Xperia Z6, with screen sizes ranging between 4-inches and 6.4-inches, with the standard model offering a 5.2-inch display.

Not much is known about the specs the Sony Xperia Z6 will tout, but if there actually do end up being 5 models, it will likely depend on the size. As mentioned above, screen sizes are said to range between 4 inches and 6.4 inches. We have also heard that the upcoming flagship will be touting a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor.

Other rumored specs include 3-4 GB of RAM, 32-128 GB of internal storage and a powerful camera (in usual Sony fashion). We are also not sure if Sony will continue to stick with 1080p screens, but we say it’s time to at least upgrade to QHD (2560×1440). It also seems pretty likely at least one model will have 4K, if the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is anything to go by at least.

Price and release date

Pricing details have been scarce, but we can expect the Sony Xperia Z6 to compete with all other high-end smartphones in the market. Sony has never been one to go for low price tags, after all.

Release windows are rumored to be as expected when it comes to usual Xperia launches, so that likely means one in the summer and a second in October.

Wrapping up

So there you have it, guys. That is about all we can tell you about the Sony Xperia Z6 and company, for now. Do keep in mind we are only following rumors, leaks and speculations that have a certain level of credibility backing them, so there are definitely other obscure bits of info out there. Just stay curious about the validity of any information for now.

As we mentioned in the beginning of the post, we will continue to update this post as more information emerges, so don’t forget to keep it tuned to Android Authority and bookmark this page to keep getting all the juicy details!

Sony Xperia Z6 Compact Premium design accompanied by specs - PhonesReviews UK- Mobiles, Apps, Networks, Software, Tablet etc

We’ve already reported on several leaks about the Sony Xperia Z6 lineup that will release in 2016, with tips of several different variants so far. While we wait for more concrete news on this we can spend some time looking at concept ideas for the phones. The one we’re sharing today is a Sony Xperia Z6 Compact Premium design that’s accompanied by specs.

In early December a leak suggested five possible variants of the Sony Xperia Z6, a regular Z6, Z6 Ultra, Z6 Compact, Z6 Plus, and Z6 Mini. At the end of the month we also heard of another possible addition to the lineup in the form of an Xperia Z6 Lite. Of course at this stage nothing has been confirmed but we can always imagine what might arrive. Now concept designer Aitor Amigo has come up with an idea for a Sony Xperia Z6 Compact Premium.

Many times when we cover concept visions they focus solely on the design. However, this time the designer has also given some envisioned specs and interesting features for the device. Starting with specifications this Sony Xperia Z6 Compact Premium packs a Snapdragon 820 processor, Adreno 530 graphics, and a 4.7-inch display with Full HD resolution and 73.8% screen to body ratio. It has 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD).

Camera wise you’re looking at a 23-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and dual LED flash, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone features a fingerprint sensor as well as a USB Type-C port. It meets IP69K certification standards offering resistance against dust, high temperature sprays, close range pressure and more. The handset itself has a titanium frame with rear mirror shell and features Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

Although the phone looks very sleek it still manages to look fairly sturdy if that makes sense. It’s slim enough though at 8.9mm thick, and it weighs in at 139g. No doubt we’ll be seeing many more design ideas for Sony Xperia Z6 devices before they are eventually launched. As always we’ll keep you informed with news on the real deals.

In the meantime we’d really like to know what you think of this Sony Xperia Z6 Compact Premium design? What do you want to see Sony bring to the table for the next flagships?

Sony Xperia Z6 Rumors: Xperia Z6, Z6 Mini, Z6 Compact, Z6 Plus, Z6 Ultra Variants Expected

Sony is rumored to be working on several variants of the Xperia Z6 flagship, and speculations are rife that the Japanese tech giant will release as many as five variants of the Xperia Z6.

According to Tech Grapple, the Sony Xperia Z6 series will include five smartphones of varied sizes and specifications. Here is a low down on the different variants:

  • Sony Xperia Z6 will be a successor of the Xperia Z5 featuring a 5.2-inch Quad HD display and the latest Snapdragon 820 chipset.
  • Sony Xperia Z6 Mini will be featuring a small screen of 4-inch along with Snapdragon 620 chipset.
  • Sony Xperia Z6 Compact will be coming with a 4.6-inch display with support for full HD resolution. It will be powered Snapdragon 820 chipset.
  • Sony Xperia Z6 Plus with 5.8-inch Quad HD screen will be launched instead of launching Z6 Premium. The Snapdragon 820 will also power this device.
  • Sony Xperia Z6 Ultra will feature a 6.4-inch Quad HD display that will also support 4K resolution. It is also going to be powered by Snapdragon 820 chipset.

Speculations also indicate that all the aforementioned variants will be featuring pressure sensitive display like iPhone 6S. Sony will be organizing a press meeting on Jan. 5 during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016. The event will take place at 5 PM at Las Vegas, Nevada. The Japanese firm has already hinted that it will be launching a smartphone at the CES 2016.

The announcement of Sony Xperia Z6 and its variants seem unlikely as it had announced the new Xperia Z5 series in September this year. Launching of new Xperia flagship will only result in the killing the sales of Xperia Z5 smartphones. Rumors are also indicating that Sony may announce another variant of Z5 called Xperia Z5 Ultra.

The Xperia Z5 Ultra is expected to arrive with 6.4-inch 4K resolution supporting display. The details on the processor of the device are not available yet. Like the Z5 Premium, it is expected to feature 4 GB of RAM, 23-megapixel camera and a large-sized battery.

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact review

One of the most important bullet points on the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact's spec sheet is its camera. It comes with a 20.7MP camera, the same as the one found in the Xperia Z3.

A high megapixel count doesn't guarantee a good camera, however, and Sony has backed it up with a range of technology from its digital compact cameras.

An Exmor RS sensor and G lens enhance camera performance

This includes the Exmor RS sensor and an ISO rating of 12,800, designed to drastically improve image quality in low light conditions. The lens is Sony's own wide-angle G lens, aimed at giving a wider frame for taking photos.

Sony's camera app comes with a host of tools and modes including a superior auto mode that optimises the settings based on what sort of shot you're taking.

During my tests I was pretty pleased with the superior auto mode, and its ability to detect what type of shot I was going for. For instance, if I was attempting a close up shot, it accurately detected this and switched to macro mode.

The camera switches automatically to macro mode for close-ups

There's a manual mode if you want more control over your shots, and it gives plenty of settings to tweak.

I was reasonably pleased with the quality of the photos taken, especially outdoors, which captured colour particularly well.

Detail wasn't brilliant, however, with certain elements missed due to a slight blur. While this means the photos on the whole were free from noise, the lack of detail will mean many will rather go for a standalone compact camera, rather than depend on the Z3 Compact's.

Indoor shots and photos taken in low light conditions were also good, yet fell short of what I expected. Other smartphones such as the iPhone 6 might have less impressive sounding camera specifications on paper, but they manage to take better photos.

Sony has made a big deal of the Xperia Z3 Compact's high ISO rating of 12,800, the highest in any current smartphone (bar the full size Xperia Z3, which comes with the same camera).

Though this high ISO rating is supposed to help with taking photos in low light levels, and I did achieve some good shots, they still fell short of the iPhone 6's photographs, with a low level of detail and off white balance keeping the images from looking truly stunning.

The camera app comes with a number of gimmicky modes such as AR effects and face in mode. The face in mode takes photos both with the rear facing camera and the front facing camera at the same time, the idea being to capture your expression as you take a photo.

AR effects are fine, if baffling

It works fine, but there's not much to it. AR Effects places animated objects into your photos for moderately amusing results. For example, you can conjure up a T-Rex to stomp around your friends as you take photos.

It's fun for a while, but the effects aren't quite good enough to be anything more than a mildly diverting time waster. You can download more effects from the app store, and these range from the OK to the downright terrible. At least they're free.

The video camera of the Xperia Z3 Compact does a decent job of filming, and as with still photos, there are a number of effects you can add. Perhaps the best one is timelapse, which takes a sped up 120fps version of a film, which you can then slow for ultra (but still smooth) slow motion.

It's not really timelapse per se, but it works surprisingly well, and is quick and easy to use. The Xperia Z3 Compact is also capable of filming in 4K. As already mentioned, when launching the 4K mode, a warning comes up saying that the Xperia's temperature may rise, causing the app to close. That seems like a strangely bodged work-around to us.

This did happen a few times, too, along with a couple of times when using the AR effects. Here's a tip for Sony: if a feature causes your smartphone to over heat and crash, it might be best to drop that feature altogether.

Still if you don't mind filming in short bursts and having a slightly toasty smartphone, then the 4K video mode does the trick.

If you're worried that all these high resolution photos and 4K video will take a toll on the internal memory of the Xperia Compact Z3, don't worry as you can expand the memory with a microSD card up to 128GB.
