Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX 570 4GB Graphics Card Review and Benchmarks

Hello everyone. Will here and today I am reviewing the Sapphire Nitro+ RX 570 4GB graphics card. I purchased this card from Newegg during their Black Friday sales. At just $210, this card has finally come back down near its market value but still around $50 or $60 more expensive. I have been waiting on these prices to drop over the last several months but with cryptocurrency mining still being profitable, it is next to impossible to find these AMD cards at or near MSRP. I think this was a fair compromise, but how does the card perform? Well, let’s find out.

First, let us talk specifications of this card. The Sapphire Radeon Nitro+ RX 570 4GB graphics card is middle of the road graphics card on the AMD platform and is built on the 14nm Polaris architecture. The card offers 2048 stream processors with a base core clock of 1325MHz, up from the 1168MHz base clock of the reference models. There are 4GB of GDDR5 memory with a 1750MHz memory clock. The Sapphire Nitro+ RX 570 graphics card supports a maximum of 5 outputs and has a single DL-DVI-D port, 2 HDMI 2.0b ports, and 2 DisplayPort 1.4 ports. The card supports OpenGL 4.5, DirectX 12 and Vulkan 1.0. Also supported is AMD CrossFire and AMD FreeSynch technology. For cooling, the card comes with the Dual-X 975mm fans; two ball bearing. Also, the card features NITRO Free Flow air flow, NITRO FanSafe and Fan Health check, and SAPPHIRE Quick Connect system. There is also a dual UEFI BIOS, NITRO Glow RGB LED lights, and the card draws just 195 watts TDP. AMD and Sapphire recommend a 500-watt power supply and the card requires an 8-pin and an optional 6-pin power connector.

For testing, I used my Intel Core i7-7700K system. The CPU is cooled by the Corsair H60 all-in-one liquid cpu cooler and is overclocked to 4.7GHz. For RAM, I have 16GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM clocked at 2667MHz. The components are installed on the MSI Z270 Tomahawk motherboard and for storage, there is the Corsair MP500 480GB M.2 drive. Powering the test system is the EVGA 550 B3 550-watt power modular power supply. All games tested were tested at 1080p on the highest setting possible for each of the respective games settings. So, without further delay, here are the benchmarks.

In Grand Theft Auto V, I was afforded really smooth gameplay without stutter or lag. The game was quite enjoyable. This game most likely performed as well as it did because it is mostly a CPU bound game. You will see the difference in the games tested later which are more GPU bound.

Witcher III played okay and got us above console gaming 30 frames per second. The game played smooth and never dropped out of the 40s in FPS and provided an enjoyable gaming experience.

Rise of the Tomb Raider was next and as with Witcher III, it played fairly well but we never reached the magical 60 FPS average. However, there was no serious problems with the game and it played smoothly with very minimal amounts of stutter only during the more graphically intense scenes.

Far Cry Primal was the next game up. As with Witcher III and Rise of the Tomb Raider, we had a decent gaming experience and almost reached 60 FPS average.

Tom Clancy’s The Division came up next and was the first GPU bound game that reached the magic 60 FPS average.

Overwatch was the next game I tested. This game is an eSports game and doesn’t require a whole lot of compute or GPU power. I was able to keep a minimum of 68 FPS and averaged 97 FPS.

Doom was tested next. Doom has always favored the AMD cards over the nVidia cards and again, it favors AMD, or at least I’m sure it does since I did not compare to an nVidia card. The game played well and very smooth. There was no stutter and we never dropped below 141 FPS.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was up next and the RX 570 did okay with this title. There was some lag and stutter, more often than with some of the other games tested which had stutter. The RX 570 still provided a decent playing experience.

Finally, the last game tested was Battlefield 1. This game has never really given many cards much trouble. This was probably the most enjoyable gaming experience of all of the games tested on the RX 570. There was no stutter and visually, the game was quite stunning at and above 60 FPS.

So, there you have it. The Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX 570 handled all of the games tested fairly well. This is indeed a good midlevel card for systems that have an Intel Core i5 processor or Ryzen 5 1600 and would work well with a budget chip like the Pentium G4560 or Ryzen 3 1200 or Ryzen 5 1400. I would say the sweet spot system for this card would be the Ryzen 5 1400 or the Intel Core i5-7500. This RX 570 offers a decent gaming experience and overall enjoyable gameplay. Would I pay $210 for this card again? Probably not. I’d prefer this card at around its MSRP of around $150. So, if you can get one for around $150-$175, go for it. All in all, it’s a good card, though.

καλησπέρα σε όλους.....όταν έψαχνα για κάρτα γραφικών πριν κανένα χρόνο κοιτούσα για nvidia 1060 6gb δεν είχα δώσει καν σημασία στην rx570 τέλος πάντων καθώς έψαχνα έπεσε μπροστα μου μια προσφορά και ειχε την συγκεκριμένη κάρτα στα 169 ευρώ μαζί δώρο και 2 παιχνίδια....triple Α games (resident evil2 και division 2) λεω εδω είμαστε....Ψάχνω λίγο για τα specs γενικά της κάρτας και είδα άπειρα βιντεακια στο youtube και ολοι ελεγαν οτι ειναι επιπεδου nvidia 1060.... τελος παντων με τα πολλά πείστηκα να την αγορασω με βαριά καρδιά ομως που θα έφευγα απο την πράσινη ομάδα και θα πήγαινα στην κόκκινη......ε λοιπον δεν το εχω μετανιωση καθολου η καρτα και γενικα η εκδοσης RX 570 & RX 580 είναι οτι ποιο value for money μπορείς να αγοράσεις αυτή την στιγμή.......

τα υπερ της κάρτας: ειναι γενικά αθόρυβη εκτός αν πας τα fans στο 100% εκεί ακούγετε αρκετά,απο επιδόσεις ειναι διαμαντάκι εχω παίξει αρκετά παιχνίδια και τα περισσότερα στα high και 1080p και δεν εβγαλε αχνα τα παιζει ολα απροβλημάτιστα βεβαία και ενα σύστημα με καλό backround βοηθάει για της καλες επιδόσεις... τωρα παμε στα αρνητικα της καρτας: 1ον)ειναι τεράστια σε κάποιο μικρο κουτι θα παιδευτείτε να την βάλετε.

2ον)γενικα είναι λίγο ενεργοβόρα σαν κάρτα για να δουλεψει σωστα θελει ενα 8pin και ενα 6pin βεβαια δουλευει και με ενα 8πινο αλλα για να δουλεψει φουλ τα θελει και τα δυο......

γενικά έχω να πω τα καλύτερα για την κάρτα ειναι φωτιά ακόμα και σήμερα που μιλάμε....το μόνο μείον της αυτή την στιγμή ειναι η τιμη της για τα 170 ευρω που την αγόρασα μαζί με τα δυο games, η προσφορά ηταν super....τωρα η χαμηλότερη τιμή της ειναι στα 195ευρω με άλλα 20 ευρω μπορείς να πάρεις την rx580 8gb nitro+

In this review we'll look at the Sapphire Radeon RX 570 Nitro+ graphics card. This Nitro+ edition has a massive cooling block slapped on top of it. And while the GPU is similar to that of the Radeon RX 470, a higher boost frequency will bring this card towards RX 480 performance levels. This affordable mainstream graphics card series will allow you to play your games in both the Full HD 1080P range as well as a handful of games in that WQHD (2560x1440) range. And all that at a rather reasonable price of roughly €235 / USD. This review is all about the Polaris refresh from AMD, a code-name indicative of the mainstream Radeon RX 580 series, The new GPU is basically the same as the Radeon RX 480, it however is fabbed with a 3rd generation 14nm process which is a little more refined. That results into a GPU that can be clocked and boosted a notch faster. As such yes, AMD is refreshing their lineup. Actually four new models are released:

  • AMD Radeon RX 580 4GB and 8GB 
  • AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB and 8GB
  • AMD Radeon RX 560 2GB/4GB 
  • AMD Radeon RX 550 2GB 

We'll talk a little more on all differences later on in the article, but the primary focus will be Radeon RX 570 and 580. Both the The Radeon RX 570 and 580 graphics card will be made available in 4 and 8GB versions, you will also see both reference and tweaked SKUs from the board partners. The GPU used in the 580 is based on Polaris 20 (XTX), an Ellismere (codename) GPU based on 4th generation GCN architecture.  For the RX 570 that would be a Polaris 21, which is based on the same GPU and is similar to the Polaris 10 based products last year. The GPUS are fabbed based on a 3rd generation 14nm FinFET+ process based. The Radeon RX 580 will push the product to just over 6 TFLOPS of peak performance, 5 TFLOPS for the Radeon RX 570. The fabrication process is more refined and this allows AMD to create better silicon with less leakage. As a result, the clock frequencies can go up.

Radeon RX 580The Radeon RX 570 can now boost towards 1244 MHz whereas the RX 580 clocks in towards 1340 MHz on that boost frequency.  More MHz means more power, coming from 150W the RX 580 now hovers at a 185W TDP with its 36 CUs (compute units aka shader clusters) x 64 shader processors per CU = 2304 shader processors). The cards will be available in both 4GB and 8GB versions and has 256-bit GDDR5 memory which offers an effective 8 Gbps / GHz.

Radeon RX 570The Radeon RX 570 is able to boost towards 1244 MHz with a 1168 MHz base clock frequency. This SKU now is set at a 150W TDP with its 32 CUs (compute units aka shader clusters) x 64 shader processors per CU = 2048 shader processors). The cards will be available in predominantly 4GB but also 8GB versions and has 256-bit GDDR5 memory which offers an effective 7 Gbps / GHz.

The reference cards will use just one 6-pin power PEG (PCI Express Graphics) header to give the the card its power. The reference boards have a 6-phase VRM power supply design and display output wise includes DisplayPort 1.4 connectors and one HDMI 2.0b. AIB partners may release SKUs with a DVI connector as well, the reference PCB shows SMT traces for a DVI connector. Overall the specs show a very potent card to play the latest games with whilst offering a good memory size versus price in the 1920x1080 and even 2560x1440 monitor resolutions.  In this review we peek at the Radeon RX 570 Nitro+  from Sapphire, the card is fitted with 4GB of graphics memory and has been factory tweaked for you at a 1340 MHz Boost frequency with the memory at an effective data-rate of 7.0 Gbps. Being an Nitro+ model it has been fitted with a lot of metal, including a back-plate and obviously the massive cooler.
